Discipleship and Community Life PastorPosition Description



Longview Community Church is looking for someone to extend the vision of being a welcoming family, transformed by Christ, to love our neighbors through the ministries of discipleship and pastoral care. 



Required:





  • A learning and growing relationship with Jesus


  • A. or B.S. in Christian Ministry, Counseling, Communications, or similar


  • Aligns with the vision, mission, and values of LvCC


  • Experience in Christian Ministry


  • Eager to learn, willing to be challenged, supported and encouraged as part of a team


  • Passes appropriate background checks




Preferred:





  • 10+ years of pastoral ministry experience


  • Master’s degree in theology, religion, or Divinity.




Option: We are also seeking a part-time worship leader. If you have musical expertise, these responsibilities could be modified to allow for ¼ time worship leadership responsibilities. See more, below. * 



Ministry Responsibilities:



Discipleship





  • Lead a team in the development and growth of discipleship ministry toward community engagement, and spiritual growth.


  • Train, resource, empower, and celebrate leaders to ensure the existence of healthy communities (i.e. small groups, Bible studies, retreats, women/men’s groups, etc.)


  • Identify, develop, and/or select curriculum, resources, and materials as tools for leaders to use for discipleship and spiritual formation 




Pastoral Care





  • Lead, train, equip and empower Deacons for ministry


  • Make regular connections with homebound members


  • Oversee hospital visitations to pray, counsel, and support


  • Assist Lead Pastor and families in planning and officiation of funerals 




General





  • Participate in weekly staff meetings; be part of the team


  • Willing and available to preach and participate in worship services


  • Responsible for projecting, submitting, and adhering to an annual budget


  • Lead regular monthly huddles with ministry teams


  • Other duties as assigned




* Optional Worship Leadership Component





  • Trained musician capable of high-level vocal/instrumental performance


  • Plan and lead worship events in coordination with the Lead Pastor


  • Recruit and lead teams of musicians and audio/video technicians


  • Oversight of all music ministry and events at LvCC




Job Type: Full-Time (40hrs/wk)
