Senior Pastor
SENIOR PASTOR POSITION
The Pastor shall be a clergy person who is fully licensed and ordained to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Pastor shall be a person of good report whose life and conduct conforms to Scripture:
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15 KJV)
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. (Titus 1:7-9 KJV)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university as well as a seminary graduate degree from an accredited school, college, or university.
Experience
- Must be a licensed and ordained Baptist minister and duly ordained in accordance with the Baptist Church.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Baptist Pastor, Associate Pastor or Assistant to the Pastor.
- Must have proven leadership training/experience with proven managerial and administrative skills/abilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Visionary
- Be willing to invest in the education and development of youth and young adults.
- Provide a statement of his/her views on ministries of a local church including requirements for ministry heads.
- Articulate and execute a vision for the church that emphasizes spiritual growth/development and Christian education development, as well as Membership Retention and Growth.
- Must provide a record of community mission involvement and participation with other community churches.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Must be able to plan and conduct worship services and teach Bible Study.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to teach and preach based upon sound biblical doctrine. (Please provide copies of two (2) preaching sermons within the last year.)
- Must be open to the use of modern technology in the church.
AFFILIATIONS WITH ORGANIZATIONS
- Must provide a list of all organization’s affiliations.
- If involved in any social media networks, must provide the name of network(s) and all social media handles.
PERSONAL CHARACTER
- Must have a background free of criminal activity; must consent to a criminal background check.
- Must have good credit standing; must consent to a credit check.
- Must provide references from at least two (2) clergy, two (2) layperson and two (2) personal (unrelated).
- Must have solid stewardship commitment.
- The candidate must be of good character possessing high spiritual values.
