Worship Leader

The primary focus of this part-time salaried position (approximately 20 to 25 hours a week) is to plan, coordinate, and lead weekly worship services to help Southview accomplish its mission of seeing people far from God be raised to new life in Jesus Christ. As a North Point Partner Church, we want to create an irresistible church in our community, for our community, with intentional environments where unchurched or dechurched people can come and experience the life changing message of Jesus. We believe that environments matter, and we’re looking for someone to help creatively craft the best worship experience we can. The Worship Leader will recruit, invest in, and lead a team of musicians in weekly worship services (both on our physical campus as well as our online services) designed to draw attenders in and encourage participation in a worship experience.

Worship Leader Responsibilities:

  • Select music for worship experiences (aligning with each week’s sermon or series)

  • Lead rehearsals with the worship band

  • Actively recruit, train, schedule, and disciple worship team volunteers

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate special church worship services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Nights of Worship) 

  • Build services using Planning Center

  • Ensure an environment of excellence at each service, in partnership with the production team

  • Manage all worship-related income and expenditures

  • Work in a team environment with our staff, contributing to evaluation, discussions, and decisions

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent vocal ability

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency on guitar or keyboard 

  • Ability to read music (playing by ear is a plus)

  • Ability to pray and speak appropriately during worship transitions

  • Experience leading and teaching an eclectic group of musicians

  • Proficiency with basic sound, lighting, ProPresenter, video editing, and video production equipment and methodology, and willing to learn what you don’t know

  • Knowledge of best practices in worship service design, modern worship music, traditional hymns, and secular songs appropriate for worship settings.
